Kinston Gives Cats a HEADache

Another day, another loss. But at least we’re improving; we got three hits yesterday and four hits today. Small steps guys, small steps. Jose De Los Santos was a big contributor tonight by getting a hit and stealing a bag. But that’s about all the Cats could muster up in the loss. And with that said, here is the recap. The Indians were the first (and only) team to get on the board tonight as they got three runs in the second. Niuman Romero reached on a throwing error by Brian Friday, Matt McBride doubled scoring Romero, Drennen duplicated the feat by hitting an RBI double which brought McBride home, and, finally, Jerad Head got on because of an error causing Drennen to cross the plate. The K-Tribe put another crooked number up with three more in the fourth. Drennen walked, Cumberbatch reached on an error, and Head brought them all home on his tenth homer of the year. The home team would add one more to the final score in the seventh when Jared Goedert singled and scored on a Romero RBI double. And that would be all it took to beat Lynchburg by the final score of 7 to 0. Cats starter Brian Holliday actually looked pretty decent going fiving innings, giving up six runs (only three of which were earned) on three hits and three walks, and striking out two. We also saw an appearance from resident fan favorite Daniel Moskos. He was outstanding tonight going two innings and striking out two. It’s just too bad pitching doesn’t win games; you actually have to score a run to win. We are slipping further and further out of the playoff race, so if we want to go we will either have to (a) get better fast, or (b) buy tickets to the games. But there’s always tomorrow.

Stat of the Night: Eight different Cats struck out tonight. Oddly enough, Kent Sakamoto was not one of them.
